        Entry Form

Entry Form: Please take the time to carefully read and fill out your entry form.
        Entry Rules
Note to teachers: In an effort to ensure the quality of work submitted and to encourage teachers to submit only their best quality work, we are establishing entry fees as follows:
        • 0-25 entries from a single school are free
        • 26-50 entries from a single school are $5 each
        • Above 50 entries from a single school are $10 each
Make checks payable to: MEET, NW HS Film Festival

Judging will be based on technical and aesthetic merit.

Lighting, frame composition, camera technique, editing technique, audio technique and image quality are examples of technical merit considerations. Originality, continuity/pacing, structure, impact on viewer, writing quality, and strength and clarity of concept are examples of aesthetic merit considerations.
        1. Films must be produced by a student(s) while enrolled in a Northwest high school video class.

        2. Films must be completed between May 2011 and April 2012.

        3. Any use of copyrighted materials submitted SHOULD include evidence of a letter or email sent to the holder of the copyright notifying them of its use. This includes music, graphics, and video or film footage. We are trying to stress an awareness of copyright issues among students and encourage them to at least attempt to gain permission before using copyrighted materials.

        4. Students who record original soundtracks will receive extra consideration from the judges.

        5. Videos will be judged up to 10 minutes in length. Beyond that is up to the judges.

        6. Entries must be submitted to one category only, one entry per disk, on playable -R Format DVD. Playable DVD means it will play in a home DVD player. Many older DVD players will only play -R format DVD's. DVD's must be labeled with film title, name of school, student name, and entry category. Write this information in Sharpie on the top side of the disk itself.

        7. For additional technical assistance, contact a MEET member.

        8. All videos must have school appropriate content. This is an educational event. The intended audience is students and their families. Entry's with questionable language or other content, like people engaging in illegal or dangerous activities must include a justification for this on the entry application. If the jury does not agree, the film will not be judged. If the judges do agree, the production might be awarded, as has happened in the past, but it will not be shown at the event.

        9. We will try to make every effort to return DVD's to schools at the end of the screening. Otherwise, DVD's will not be returned.

        10. Only videos produced entirely by high school students with only advisory support from faculty can be entered.

        11. One entry form per entry (2 pages) must be filled out completely. Attach copyright request docs to the entry form.
Submission Deadline: Post marked by Friday, April 23rd, or hand delivered by April 25th.

        Entries go to:

        Northwest High School Film Festival
c/o Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences
        ATTN: Cheryll Hidalgo
        1201 East Union Street
        Seattle, Washington 98122

It would be helpful if you would ensure that the entry forms are filled out completely and accurately. Then put each entry and DVD together in a large zip lock bag. Finally, separate all the entries into the categories before you put them into the envelop.

        Thank you.
